What a head-scratcher this was for me–which tonearm fits the Luxman PD-444.

First, Your Tonearm Compatability Depends on Your Arm Base/Panel

If you are here, you know that the PD-444 uses two interchangeable Arm Bases. Here are the original types of Arm Panels, with their original (and currently ludicrous) prices:

  • Arm Panel TP-SG (General Use, ¥ 2,000)
  • Arm Panel TP-MT (for 3-Point Screw-Lock Arm, ¥ 2,000)
  • Arm Panel TP-LH (for Thick Shaft Arm, ¥ 2,000)
  • Arm Panel TP-LS (for SME, ¥ 2,000)
  • Arm Panel TP-X (Common Arm Base Diecast, ¥ 2,000)

These two arm bases came with my PD-444. They are the TP-MT and the TP-LS. The TP-LS has the larger hole and the 4 screw holes, the TP-MT has the 6-pointed star.
